Story
Long ago, the ancient and majestic continent of Omeka fostered green forest valleys, plush mountain ranges, and vibrant desert regions for a trove of varied inhabitants known as the Guardians. Then, about 500 years ago, the Guardians faced a massive struggle against an invading force called the Harbingers. The Guardians narrowly achieved victory against the Harbingers in what became known as the Great War. The Great War ravaged the landscape, destroyed entire towns, and displaced tribes of people too numerous to count. After the Great War, Omeka was not the same beautiful land it had once been.
With so much lost, the Guardians feared their scorched world wouldn’t survive another invasion. They begged their beloved deities, the Titans, to help them avoid another violent struggle. The Titans saw themselves as passive observers over the world of Omeka and had vowed never to interfere. But the passionate pleas of the Guardians moved the Titans to action. To the widespread relief of the desperate Guardians, the Titans issued a rare blessing. The Titans’ blessing would manifest a team of powerful Heroes, brought forth from the different tribes of Omeka. These ‘Heroes’ were gifted individuals that possessed unearthly powers, matched in might only by other Heroes. As soon as the Titans’ blessing fully permeated the land of Omeka, the grateful Guardians began fostering these Heroes, forming specialized sects dedicated to training and preparing for War. With the new Heroes on their side, the Guardians were confident they could easily defeat the Harbingers if they ever attacked again.
The Harbingers, however, had other ideas. After their devastating loss and retreat back to the underworld, they cried out to their own Titans. Humiliated by the Harbingers’ loss, the Titans could not stand the shame of another defeat to the Guardians. Feeling the undying need to avenge their loss, the Harbingers demanded more power. Their Titans heard whispers that supernatural Heroes were appearing amongst the Guardians. Not to be bested again, the Harbinger Titans acted swiftly, planting unworldly power throughout the Harbinger people. They too would have their own Heroes, who would surpass the strength of the Guardians’ Heroes and defeat them once and for all.
Five hundred years passed in this way; each side preparing and training heroes for the inevitable day when War returned. Suddenly, the land could no longer contain the violent energy building within it and Omeka split in two. On this fateful day an enormous chasm formed, dividing the continent. The Guardians fearfully interpreted the massive event as a herald to the start of the long-awaited invasion and raced to the freshly opened chasm. When they arrived, they saw a small group of beings confidently filing out of the broken earth: the Harbingers’ Heroes. The power and fury radiating off the menacing Harbingers was too much to bear and most citizens fled in fear. Only the Guardians’ lineup of brave Heroes remained to face the new threat. The two sides stood across from each other, staring, knowing what was to come next...
